Biography
Gerhard Roemers Cohn was born on 10 August 1900 in Berlin, Germany. He moved to Stockholm in Sweden and in 1937 he settled in The Hague, The Netherlands, where he was naturalized into Dutch citizenship. He died in The Hague 29 November 1965. Roemers Cohen traveled a lot and made paintings from Dutch cities and villages to Tunis and Venice. His colour scheme became more playful and vibrant over the years. The painting of the circus in St. Denis in Paris is no exception: it makes you smile, happy and remembering the days you went to a lunapark or circus yourself.
