Film is not dead! This analog Yashica Mat 124 G medium format camera is like new. The original strap and case show signs of use, but both the camera and the lenses are in superb condition.
The Twin Lens Reflex (TLR) camera's were popular in the 1930s-1950s. Twin Lens Reflex means that the camera has two lenses: a lower lens that actually takes the picture and an upperr lens that is only used for viewing and composition. This Yashica model is a medium format - 120/220 roll film - camera, that shoots 6x6 cm square format. The camera has a built-in light meter (working on a regular V625 U battery).
The Yashica Mat-124 was made up until 1970. The replacement Yashica Mat-124 G (which is on sale here) was made from 1970 till 1986 and was the last TLR produced by Yashica. Even if this type of camera seemed to be obsolete at the time of its appearance, the 124 G was a success (source: camera-wiki.org) The word Mat in the brand name reflect their automatic film advance, unlike simpler camera's using a red window. The "G" stands for "gold" and indicates gold plating on the meter switch contacts, which increases their reliability.
This classic Japanese camera comes as a very complete set, including:
- the standard Yashinon 80 mm F3.5 lens
- waist level view finder
- original strap and case
- built-in exposure meter
