Biography
Isaäc Engelbert Alers, known as Bert Alers, was born on December 28, 1891 in Rotterdam. In his early days as a painter, he worked in Rotterdam and The Hague. As a result of the Second World War and its threat to the city of Rotterdam, he moved to Chaam, North Brabant, in a rural area. Here, and in Zutphen where he later settled, he made his famous genre paintings of landscapes and animals. Bert Alers died on October 10, 1972 in Zutphen, the Netherlands.
